Asteroid Destroy 75% Species Living on Earth

Researchers unveil details about the phenomenon of an asteroid that destroyed 75 percent of life on Earth. The incident is believed to have occurred more than 65 million years ago.

Reported Dailymail, Wednesday (08/10/2016), more than 65 million years ago, a giant space rock hit the Earth. This phenomenon led to strong earthquakes, landslides and tsunamis that remove 75 percent of the species on Earth.

Recent research carried out in the affected areas, which is now known as the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. The largest asteroid has been observed since the 1980s.

Largest space rock fall that resulted in more than 100 miles in diameter hole. During the study area, the experts found that the tsunami phenomenon intentions around the Gulf coast.

The phenomenon is causing a big wave that tore across the beach in just 10 hours after the asteroid hit the Earth.

For the incident, investigators found that sea sand should be dry land. In addition, there are fossils of plants that should be in the sea, they are all mixed together in ancient sediments.

The effects of the asteroid that also cause other natural disasters, such as earthquakes and landslides. Living things at that time suffering from heat or high temperatures.

Researchers also found tiny particles of rock and other debris that flew into the air when an asteroid crashed. Called 'spherules', these small particles covering the sky with a thickness of one-tenth of an inch.

"The kinetic energy carried by these spherules outstanding, approximately 20 million megatons of energy, equivalent to one megaton hydrogen bomb at intervals of six kilometers around the planet," said geologist from the University of Colorado, Doug Robertson.

All this energy is transformed into heat due to small particles of asteroids out at an altitude of 40 miles in the air.
